The Optimist International Foundation supports the programs of Optimist International, funds all the Oratorical and Essay scholarships, and makes grants to clubs, to JOOI, to OIJGC and to Optimist International. The Foundation is a BBB accredited charity. Clubs can benefit by participating in pass-through grants that allow clubs to receive gifts from corporations who only donate to a 501(c)3 charity. Clubs may also establish club campaign fund as a safe place to keep funds for scholarships or other awards you might give for future use or funds you might want to set aside for a larger, ongoing project. The club grant program allows for clubs to apply for a matching grant for new projects. All clubs are encouraged to earn the 365 recognition this year. This recognition banner patch is awarded to all clubs that contribute $1/day -- $365.00 to the Foundation. Remember our district is receiving a minimum of $12,000 in scholarships and training from the Foundation. The 365 recognition is part of the International President's special award. Members are encouraged to contribute a minimum of a Dime-a-Day ($36.50). Members who contribute will receive a pin and can be proud that they are contributing to the Foundation support coming back to the district and its clubs. Most important, a Dime-a-Day contribution allows you to vote for the Board of Directors of the Foundation and even become a candidate for the board. Recognition is available for members who choose to donate at different levels including Century Circle ($100.00), President's Club (a commitment to $250.00 annually), Friend of Today ($500.00), and Christian D. Larson Award in honor of the author of The Optimist Creed ($1000.00). You may also include the Optimist International Foundation in your estate plans as a Friend of Tomorrow. Contact Executive Director Judi Smith, CFRE for more information. With any Foundation questions, contact Chuck Kemker, District Foundation Representative, All member contributions are tax deductible on your federal return.
